Definately NOT sexy at all. They can be made to be pretty, or heavy so they feel like they are made better than they need to be, but they are actually just a utility item.
Something made to push coffee into a little cup so it brews correctly. And if you are trying to impress your date with a little sump'in special after a great evening out and you can't find the Tamper, you're in hot water when the coffee should be.The RSVP Tamper is light weight, two sizes in one so you can't miss, and actually shines up nicely when you wash it.
So if you want any more than that you may want to check into what "OCD" means.
The small end fits the Krups portafilter, get this.better than the Krups scoop/tamper. An awesome side effect of the small side fitting quite well, that leaves the larger diameter to fit into the palm and direct the pressure nice and even, not to mention polishing the puck with great ease. Unless you simply must have the best, most shiny, jewel encrusted, money sponge, then this is a great tamper at an equally great price.
This aluminum tamper is a perfect addition to my espresso bar. A quailty tool at a nice price.
A good tamper is needed for proper packing and strength of the espresso shot. Alton Brown says to tamp to 40lbs. I've been making it at home for about 1.5 years now and I am out doing all my favorite coffee shops. This tamper made it even better. I'm not sure if I push down that much, but I'm getting a way better tamp compared to the plastic POS that came with my machine.This tamper is a must. You can't make a great shot of espresso without a great tamper and this is simple, cheap and all you need.
well, it looks like a tamper. I bought this along with my DeLonghi EC155 Espresso Maker, and it works perfectly. I like the feel of it, and it looks. I am happy with what I got for the price I paid. That's good, right.
